Films Seen in 2013

Goal: To watch 50 new films I haven’t seen before and/or those I have never watched in entirety from start to finish. Could include an entire television series, since that’s a lot of effort to watch THAT many episodes… or possibly single seasons, since that kind of equals a movie? I don’t know I haven’t decided yet. We’ll just stick to movies for the most part haha.

Rating System

★ A waste of time, wasn’t a fan of it

★ ★ This movie needs some work, tolerable

★ ★ ★ It was okay, neither good nor bad

★ ★ ★ ★ Really liked it, worth watching again

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ So amazing! A new favorite!

  1. Brave (2012) ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Loved it! Though I’m biased because I seem to love all things Scottish, like the music and accents haha (Jan. 8th)
  2. Silver Linings Playbook (2012) ★ ★ ★ ★ The first movie I’ve seen in the theaters in a LONG time. Really hit home with me for reasons I couldn’t begin to explain. I like this side of Bradley Cooper more than his “Hangover” side, and of course, I love Jennifer Lawrence. (Jan. 13th)
  3. Election (1999) ★ ★ Oh, you know. Just your typical MTV movie about high school something-or-other. It’s one redeeming quality is that Reese Witherspoon is fantastic as Tracy Flick. Too bad most of the plot sucked. (Jan. 17th)
  4. Rushmore (1998) ★ ★ ★ Not my favorite Wes Anderson film, but a good movie nonetheless. I think the reason I didn’t give it more stars is because love triangle movies are kind of ridiculous haha. (Jan. 17th)
  5. The Astronaut’s Wife (1999) ★ ★ ★ This movie is one of those exceptions I make for the sake of my list; I didn’t see this movie from the VERY beginning, but I saw the majority of it and it’s not worth re-watching it for all the details. Twas an interesting movie… I’ll say that much… (Jan. 24th)
  6. The Family Stone (2005) ★ ★ ★ ★ I feel like my life is the opposite of this movie – an eccentric person trying to fit in in an uptight, conservative world. I love the Stone’s. (Jan. 26th)
  7. Batman Begins (2005) ★ ★ ★ ★ (Feb. 1st)
  8. The Rocker (2008) ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Okay, I didn’t see it from the beginning, and I’m not even done watching it and this is a great movie! Never thought I’d actually like Rainn Wilson either. OH and hello Teddy Geiger! Forgot all about you honey haha. Might have to get my hands on this movie. (Feb. 1st)
  9. The Dark Knight (2008) ★ ★ ★ ★ Ahhh, Heath Ledger! (Feb. 2nd)
  10. Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011) ★ ★ ★ ★ Oh my god! So many emotions during this movie. As always, I love the comedy, loved the chemistry between Robert Downey Jr & Jude Law. AND Noomi Rapace is fantastic. Loved her from the second she came on screen 🙂 (Feb 28th)
  11. The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012) ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This movie was so good, it hurts. It broke me in every way possible… but I think that’s why I loved it… It helped me… feel… Though now I’m numb from too much emotion at once. I want to read the book again. (Mar 4th)
  12. Baby Mama (2008) ★ ★ I’ll admit, I’m not a huge fan of Tina Fey or Amy Poehler, but I gave it a chance anyways… aaaaand this movie was ridiculous. This plot has been done before and the ending was predictable. The bit of humor was the only semi-redeeming quality. (Mar 8th)
  13. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Pt. 2 (2012) ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Just… oh my god. Much better than I thought it was going to be. Even got chills at one point. It’s a guilty pleasure. I have no shame. (Mar 9th)
  14. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012) ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I literally fangirled through the entire movie. This movie was so beautiful and I HATE that I have to wait until … what… December for the next one?! I’m also in love with the first song during the credits. I’m… speechless. So good. SO GOOD. (Mar 25th)
  15. The Five Year Engagement (2012) ★ ★ ★ I wasn’t sure how I felt about this one. Enjoyed the story about Tom and Violet, hated Alex and Suzie… and the latter is what makes me give it a low number of stars. (Mar 29th)
  16. Lucky Number Slevin (2006) ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ There are times when I see a movie and as soon as it’s done I know that it’s being added to my collection. This is one of those times. And I didn’t even see it from the beginning. (Mar 30th)
  17. Kill Bill Vol. 1 (2003) ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I knew before I started watching this it was going to get five stars. I love Kill Bill, I just happened to see Vol. 2 first. Now it is a complete movie to me, and it’s amazing. Love the movie, love the music, love everything. (Apr 9th)
  18. Inglourious Basterds (2009) ★ ★ ★ ★ Ahhh Quentin 🙂 Well done. (Apr 22nd)
  19. Pitch Perfect (2012) ★ ★ ★ ★ I have no words for this one except that I now completely understand why everyone loves this movie. And I agree. (Apr 23rd)
  20. Pulp Fiction (1994) ★ ★ ★ I think I’ll have to watch this one a few more times to decide how I feel about it. And it probably didn’t help that I was half dead when I was watching it. So a neutral 3 stars it is. (May 5)
  21. Kiss of the Damned (2012, officially released 2013) ★ ★ ★ This is the film I watched in order to write a review sample to submit for an internship – an writing sample that got me that internship. The movie itself wasn’t too bad, definitely interesting to see Milo Ventimiglia in this role. And I’m always a sucker for a vampire movie. (May 13)
  22. The Siege (1998) ★ ★ ★ Typical action drama from the 90s. It was very interesting though how similar the content of this film is to our current situation in the world today. (May 16)
  23. The Runaways (2010) ★ ★ ★ ★ What can I say? I’m a sucker for biopic movies. And surprisingly I like Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning a lot in The Runaways. (May 17)
  24. Fired Up (2009) ★ ★ ★ ★ It’s funny how much my brother likes this movie hahah (May 23)
  25. Soul Plane (2004) ★ ★ ★ I still can’t believe I watched this movie. I think I lost some brain cells in the process. (May 23)
  26. The First Wives Club (1996) ★ ★ ★ ★ Classic 90s movie about women empowerment. What’s not to love about it? (May 25)
